 Christmas 2006

Our family has been well and busy.   We have continued to renovate our house on the Westside of Buffalo and to be involved in an urban church.  The involvement at church has been challenging lately as New Life Assembly has gone through some major transitions.  We are in the midst of a pastoral search and a redefinition of our Church goals and vision.  Some of our close friends have left the church.  While this situation has been difficult, we are hopeful that God will bring a new vitality to the church we have been committed to for so long.

Anna Ruth has continued on to First Grade at Bennett Park Montessori.  The multiage classroom that Anna is in allows her to work with the same teacher as last year.  Anna Ruth is very enthusiastic about school, her work and her classmates. She has also enjoyed her involvement in soccer and gymnastics.  Anna Ruth loves to listen to audio books, especially “the Chronicles of Narnia”, and do art.  Anna Ruth delights in reading, writing, running and profound silliness.

Diana has been very involved in a ministry to teen moms in the city called Teen MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers).  Currently there are about ten girls who meet at the Buffalo Christian Center to discuss issues of importance to teen moms, do fun activities and build supportive relationships with mature Christian women.  Diana has unfortunately had some severe back pain that has limited her mobility and activity level.  We are waiting on God for healing and direction with this long-term health concern.  Diana continues to work part time at Community Services for the Developmentally Disabled.   She really enjoys her job and appreciates its flexibility.  Diana is still a very committed swimmer.  She also is leading a women’s Bible study at church.

David was thrilled and excited this summer when he was appointed as Principal at Lovejoy Discovery School #43.  School #43 is an Elementary School in the Buffalo Public School system.  Leading an inner-city school was a goal David had been working towards.  The challenges of this position are huge, but David is enjoying the vitality and connection to an educational community.  David continues to teach Teen Sunday School at church, has been very involved in the Church Board and occasionally delivers a Sunday sermon.

We wish all of our friends and family the best this Christmas and New Year.

Fight the good fight of the faith; take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.
