 Christmas 2004

This has been yet another year of changes for the Hills family. We are excited at how much God is teaching each one of us.

Anna Ruth returned to her second year of Montessori. This spring she was accepted at Bennett Park Montessori, which is part of the Buffalo Public Schools. For the spring she actually attended two programs, the Catholic Montessori she had started in 2003 and Bennett Park. All three of us are big fans of the Montessori program and Anna is thriving.

David completed his first level of School Administration Certification and has taken a new position with the Buffalo Public Schools. He is now Supervisor of Staff Development for the Buffalo Public Schools, a position he started July 1. Among the many things he misses about teaching, the one most immediately felt was the absence of a summer break. The intense work schedule has meant a little less family time. We are all adjusting to this new schedule. The learning curve has been steep and there are many challenges to this position.

Diana continues to work for a local agency (Community Services) that works with disabled adults. She is working as the Coordinator of Corporate Development and has been helping to guide the formation and implementation of the agency wide strategic plan. God has provided a perfect position for Diana’s and our family's needs.

Diana has begun to lead a Women’s discipleship group at our church. David has also been glad to get involved with a new youth group that was started at the church. It is not as intense as Mission 3:16 (the inner-city youth ministry he ran for six years) but is very fulfilling. David and Diana are also teaching Sunday School. Diana is teaching the 2nd & 3rd grade and David has the High School group.

We were able to take a trip to Jacksonville, Florida before David’s job started. We had a fantastic time camping at Ft. Clinch State Park. The house that we purchased in the fall of 2003 continues to go through major changes. There is always work to be done on a house that is over 100 years old and this was definitely a fixer-upper. A friend of ours was between jobs this spring and used his hiatus to put in a phenomenal kitchen at a very good price.

With so much change we have learned to turn to God for our rest. “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” (Matthew 11:28 & 29)

We hope and pray that you also find peace and rest in 2005.

Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight.
